Into The Woods was an outstanding performance by Mark Keppel High School Theatre. Just on the level of organization and complexity that it takes to pull off a musical, it was truly a feat to behold. I was part of the tech theater class that built the sets so it really is put into perspective. But on the actual performance itself I was impressed to say the least. All of the actors performed beautifully and were so into it that you saw the characters projected through them as it should be. The musical numbers were entertaining and well done also. The orchestra played superbly and professionally. Surprised at how much raw talent we have at this school. I enjoyed the story itself as well. It was interesting to see how the 3 tales were woven together. The second act was neat as well to add some cynicism and disillusionment to the overall mix. My only complaints were that not all of the audio aspects were working 100%. But that was due to some technical limitations that I understand could not be helped. And also the second act seemed a bit. Tacked on, for lack of better words. However that was mostly due to the transition and not particularly a fault on any of the cast or crew. Overall I really enjoyed the play and I give props to all those involved in it. Overall? 9.5/10
On a side note I honestly did not enjoy the play as much as I could have. I was filming it and I screwed up the footage a couple times. The first act went decently but my camera just cannot compensate for those spotlights. That aside it was difficult for me to track all of the stuff going on stage since I hadn't seen it before. Then in the second half of the play my tripod decided to be stupid and I screwed up half the shots trying to fix the damn thing cause one leg was unequal and I couldn't find it because I only had like 2 feet of leg space. But meh we'll figure something out with the footage.
